‘Fast and Furious’ is one the highest grossing movie franchises in history. The franchise has created a massive fan following all around the globe. With the franchise already released eight films, the ninth installment of the action-packed film is expected to take action to a whole new level. But for fans, the wait for ‘Fast and Furious 9’ has to be for one more year. Disappointing fans with the news, the Universal studio on Wednesday announced that the film’s release has been pushed back to a year. The high octane film is now set for spring 2020 release date.
Universal made it clear that the film is yet to go on floors. The script is ready but who will be directing the ninth installment of the highly successful series is yet to be finalized. The film was earlier expected to race into theaters in April 2019 but now the film will have an Easter weekend release in April 2020. Talking about the star cast, Vin Diesel is all set to reprise his role Dominic Toretto while the other cast is yet to be confirmed. There is huge speculation about Dwayne Johnson leaving the franchise, however, sources close to the star have revealed that the WWE star turned actor is to take a final call.
The franchise broke the record with the highest grossing film, Fate of the Furious. The film was released in early 2017 and made its way earning $1.238 billion worldwide. The film saw one of the biggest global launches and the same is expected with Furious 9 and Furious 10. Though Fast & Furious 9 is pushed back, no confirmation has been given on the release of Furious 10 which was earlier scheduled for April 2, 2012, release.
Owing to the huge success of Fate of Furious, Universal Studios immediately started working on the plots of the two films. Besides the main franchise, two spin-offs are also in the pipeline with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham. The spinoffs could have a possible 2019 release.
