iPhone 12 Series Sales Cross 100 Million Mark Globally In Just Seven Months Of Launch

Apple

Apple has registered a record sale of its iPhone 12 series. The company said that it sold more than 100 million units. It achieved the feat in just seven months from the date of launch. Apple reported that it crossed the milestone of global sales in April. Apple had in October 2020 launched its iPhone 12 series. The latest global sales data show the keen interest of the public in Apple’s latest iPhone series. According to the company, Apple sales crossed the 100 million mark two months earlier than it achieved the same sales figure for iPhone 11 series. Reports say that Apple’s decision to add 5G support and provide a full OLED screen attracted the sales numbers.

Apple launched the iPhone 12 series with four models. The models are iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All four handsets are 5G compatible. Customers preferred buying the highest version in the starting months. The rise in the demand for the iPhone 12 series is attributed to the company’s more affordable pricing strategy. The Pro Max model’s sales share stands at 29 percent. The company reported more revenue than it generated from iPhone 11 series sales in the first seven months. The iPhone 12 series helped the company to raise 22 percent more revenue than it collected from iPhone 11 series sales in the same period.

Another factor that contributed to iPhone 12 series sales is the pandemic. The iPhone 12 series business was likely less hit by the pandemic than the iPhone 11 series in early and mid-2020 when markets in different parts of the world were completely shut. Consumers who held on to their old devices opted for an upgrade to the iPhone 12 series after October 2020. Just after the launch in October 2020, iPhone 12 was ranked the best-selling 5G smartphone in the world. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro captured nearly one-fourth of the total sales of 5G smartphones alone in that month. The iPhone 12 Pro was ranked the second best-selling device. In the first quarter of 2021, the series captured one-third of the revenues of the smartphone industry globally.
