In the whole United States right now the only controversial topic which is going on is the minimum wage payment because many labor unions are protesting to get higher wage rates. However, the drivers in NYC are right now must be happy because yesterday taxi and limousine commission decided to enact the minimum wage standard for all those independent drivers who work for companies like Uber, lyft, etc. After this decision, the NYC now has officially become the first the city to enact the minimum wage payments regulations for the contract based drivers who work for online tech giant companies. According to the reports, there are more than 80000 drivers in NYC who are going to get benefit because of this decision.
According to the TLC commissioner Meera Joshi under this new wage payment system, the drivers in the NYC are going to receive at least $17.22 per hour after the expenses. The TLC commissioner believes that many drivers in the state who work for the tech companies are getting underpaid, and that’s the reason the officials decided to take this decision of enacting minimum wage payment. However, there are also many other perquisites these drivers are going to get because under this new wage payment scheme NYC drivers are going to receive bonuses for the shared rides also. However, many tech giant companies haven’t expressed their views regarding this decision of NYC taxi commission.
Even if the state’s taxi commission has enacted this new regulation of minimum wage payments, there are still many drivers in the NYC who thinks this it’s not that much easy to implement new wage payment standards.
