Netflix, HBO Historic Hitch for Total Wins in the Emmy 2018

HBO and the Netflix went head-to-head on Sunday night for the most for the most Emmy Wins, with the steaming giant and premium cable lacing up in the first place. Both Netflix and HBO bagged a home total of 23 awards. The boasting rights for the total wins scrolled down to the wire, with both HBO and Netflix exchanging over leads at different points in that night. It all fell down to the series category of best drama that went to the most hyped “Game of Thrones”. The entertainment industry was astonished when the Emmy nominations of the year were declared back in the month of July. For the first time ever, Netflix topped the total number of nominations with HBO. The steaming giant walked away with 112 nominations altogether compared to 108 of HBO.

Netflix put an end to the 17 years long winning streak of HBO on Monday night making a historic move. It for the first time marks in Emmy history where a streaming company has collaged with a traditional broadcaster to grab home the maximum number of awards. And it’s for the first time ever any tech company has performed so at the major awards show in the U.S. This tie brings amid a bitter conflict between HBO and Netflix for the entertainment dominance. Netflix is assumed to spend upwards on content worth $10 billion annually, whilst HBO; just like the most traditional TV networks, will be spending a $3-$4 billion. Stephenson has suggested that AT&T urges to invest more in HBO for a better rivalry with Netflix.

Netflix was assisted by shows like “The Crown” that seized total 13 nominations; Western Drama “Godless” that grabbed 12, “Stranger Things” received 12; and the comedy series “Glow” had total 10. The most hyped drama series of all times “Game of Thrones” bagged the maximum number of nominations for HBO with a total 22. Dark Comedy of Bill Harder for its freshman season grabbed 13, and the Last Week Tonight with John Oliver received nine. For Netflix “The Crown” bagged most awards with five.
