The Disappearing Messages feature on WhatsApp has drawn huge attention from users. The company introduced the feature in November last year. The company is now working on a new feature called Disappearing Mode. Although the disappearing feature is available in the app’s settings option, the company is working on introducing a new setting. It will be rolled out when WhatsApp releases an update of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS. The Disappearing Messages feature is ready to use. Users need to enable it manually. They can also disable it. When a message is sent, the feature is off until users turn on the feature. It has to be done specifically for every conversation.
WhatsApp’s product team is working on Disappearing Mode that will be available for iOS users. The feature focuses mainly on privacy. When the feature is enabled, users can send disappearing messages in the new chats. The current feature can be used only after the conversation. The company has added an option to enable and disable via the Contact or Group Info section. The upcoming Disappearing Mode is different from the existing feature as it offers to send messages with disappearing messages. WhatsApp will add support under the Privacy option. The Disappearing Message feature vanishes messages after seven days. It is available on personal chats and groups. But it is restricted only to admins in group chats.
The Disappearing Mode will erase a message after the user reads it. WhatsApp is bringing the feature as part of its efforts to strengthen privacy. The feature will be rolled out for iOS users first and then extended to Android. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is likely to add 24 hours life to message to the disappearing messages feature. The company is also working to roll out the feature to its Web version. In another related development, WhatsApp’s new controversial privacy policy came into effect. The company said that it will not deactivate accounts. But it will slowly diminish the abilities to use the core features.
