Apple Announces New iPad Air and iPad Mini Models with eSIM Support

Tech

Today, Apple made a surprising announcement and launched the new iPad Air and iPad Mini models. The company launched two new iPad products ahead of its big event. The iPad Air and iPad Mini will support the eSIM functionality, making it more portable than ever. This is the first time any non-pro model of iPad received the eSIM feature. Not all eSIM carriers work in the iPad pro devices, as only the partner carriers are supported. But, in the iPad Air and iPad Mini, all of the carriers are supported with the eSIM features.

With the eSIM functionality, the users will not have to insert a physical card inside the device. All they have to do is to choose any local carrier and wirelessly activate the network plan. As there is no need to insert a physical SIM card, it makes it easier for travelling and roaming. If the carrier in your area does not support eSIM feature, then the users can opt for Apple SIM and insert a Physical SIM card or opt for Wifi services to connect to the Internet.

The iPad Air comes with 10.5-inch Retina Display, 70 per cent performance boost, Apple’s A12 Bionic chip with Neural network engine and support for Apple Pencil. The new iPad Mini is suitable for those who love travelling and want a smaller form factor device. With a 7.9 inch display, its perfect for lightweight tasks. It matches with iPad Air in other specifications except for the display. Both of these latest iPad devices will come in the colour choices like Silver, Space Gray and Gold, with 64GB and 256GB storage choices. The iPad Mini will cost $399 for Wifi and $519 for the eSIM model, whereas iPad Air will cost $499 for the Wifi model and $635 for the eSIM model.
