Tech giant Apple is working on the next iPhone lineup. The company is known for introducing something new with every lineup. Talks are already doing the rounds about iPhone 13 models. Apple has hinted that it will expand the sensor-shift optical image stabilization feature. iPhone maker is working to introduce the feature in all iPhone 13 models. The new lineup will be released later this year. The feature is currently limited to iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple has asked the makers to increase the shipments in the second half. This has triggered talks that Apple is mulling to introduce the new feature to all new iPhones. The company has asked the suppliers to raise the capacity by 30 to 40 percent.
The technology stabilizes the camera’s sensor. It has nothing to do with the lens. This gives greater image stabilization. The photos produced are of high quality. This is the first time Apple has adapted the technology for iPhone. Before Apple introduced the feature to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, it was only limited to DSLR cameras. According to Apple, the technology provides precise stabilization even on bumpy roads. The technology works by shifting the camera’s whole image sensor. It uses electrical actuators for stabilization. Earlier in January, reports claimed that Apple will upgrade iPhone 13 series models from Optical Image Stabilization or OIS to sensor-shift image stabilization.
The OIS works by shifting the lens element inside the device’s camera module. The introduction of sensor-shift OIS to iPhone 13 models will be a major improvement to iPhone’s imaging capabilities. The Cupertino-based iPhone maker is likely to provide slightly larger rear camera bumps. It will accommodate larger sensors. Besides, this will allow the company to add more improvements. Apple is planning to make some changes related to the design. It can reduce by half the size of the Face ID scanner sensor in the upcoming models. The handsets will feature a 120Hz ProMotion display. Also, the models will be slightly thicker when compared to iPhone 12 models. All will be equipped with 5G support.
