The UberRush was a delivery service started for merchants in and around Chicago, San Francisco, and New York. However, recently it has been found out that this particular delivery service has not gained as much development as it would have liked and was actually being used very less. Hence, it seems that Uber will soon stop this service. As it is failing to achieve what it had initially set out to do.
According to a report by TechCrunch on Friday, the UberRush team in New York informed their customers via email that the service would officially be closed down after 30th of June. The company has also stated that they are doing this to follow the “big, bold bets” for which they find the other applications of Uber to be more successful. In reality, it has been quite some time that the UberRush Delivery Service was actually in use actively and ahead lately ceased to function because of very little demand. The UberRush courier service which was available for few restaurants was also stopped in April, last year and the company actually encouraged those restaurants to start using the UberEats program instead of the courier service and this program was, in fact, a lot more attractive to the clients which were because using Eats, customers could order products using the Uber app itself and since there were no flat mileage-based fees, it was simply a better deal. But then paying to carry your packages is much better than having to pay extra to pick up food.
Uber has also suffered a loss as it has continued to spend a lot in chasing better growth rates in the market and recently their Southeast Asia platform was sold to Grab, another service giant and one of Uber’s great competitors.
On about letting go of the UberRush, a spokesperson said, “we’re already applying a lot of the lessons we learned together to our UberEats food delivery business in over 200 global markets across more than 100,000 restaurants.” But it seems that it isn’t only Uber who are having such problems but also Shyp has closed their on-demand package delivery service because of very low return and usage.
