Sarah Anjuli Hopkins is excited and humbled by the response she has received to her first Hindi music video. Sarah who is from Perth, Australia made her Bollywood debut with a Hindi music video that has reached over two million within a few days of release. Sarah’s mother is Indian and she would often play Indian when Sarah was a little girl. Ever since a young age, Sarah has danced to both western and eastern music. Being surrounded by different cultures, Sarah thought of coming to Bollywood almost two years ago.
Sarah started her dancing career at the age of three at Perth’s Jody Marshall Dance Company. Since then it has been no looking back for Sarah. She made her way as an actor in Australia, Hollywood and now Bollywood. Her breakthrough role in Bollywood is with the music video called ‘Piya Aa’.
Sarah bagged the role after the director spotted her in a dance video online. The director was busy scouting the internet when he saw Sarah dancing. After a series of auditions and screen tests, it took no second thoughts to cast Sarah. The video is swirling dance track featuring Sarah as the lead. She leads a troupe in a fast-paced Hindi song. According to Sarah the highlighting fact of the whole video was the fast and complex dance routine. It took Sarah about four days to get ready before the final shot took place.
Sarah is seen lip-syncing to the voice of Sunidhi Chauhan who has lent her vivacious voice for the song. Sarah says that she put in a lot of efforts to understand Hindi words and get every word right. She played the song over and over again to make sure the lips and music matched perfectly. The musical clip was released in the much awaited Bollywood movie Haseena Parkar.
Sarah’s mother and other relatives are in Mumbai. They have no plans of returning to Perth anytime soon as Sarah is busy auditioning for some more roles. The actress is all praise for her supportive parents.
Sarah’s next step is to bag a major role in a film. She is open to grab another opportunity to do a dance number which showcases her dance skills.
