Activists said that Amazon should cut its ties with US officials of Deportation Department who are ultimately firing immigrants and sending them out of the USA. They also think Amazon should not make prime day sale and earn billions of dollars when workers are under poor working environment. The protest is reportedly happening in seven cities. Protestors reportedly will go to Jeff Bezos’s home in Manhattan and submit more than 225000 petitions which say Amazon should cut ties with US deportation authorities. Reportedly Department of Homeland Security databases are hosts on Amazon Web Services.
This data of various people is used by US authorities to find immigrants and take appropriate action. Now the company is trying to increase the database by entering into a new contract with US authorities and protestors doesn’t like this idea. Amazon has launched the concept of Prime Day in 2015 since they have managed to collect a considerable amount of revenue from it. In 2018, Amazon reportedly made a sale of $4billion, and this year company is expecting to break that record.
