Sports

According to the latest study, Steve Smith defeated the Indian captain Virat Kohli in the race for the most paid cricketer in International cricket. Having started his career as a leg-spinner, Steve Smith can now be regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. Bagging a whopping $1.469 million per year, he defeats the Indian captain Virat Kohli who earns $1 million a year.

However Kohli with his earnings from brand endorsements, IPL fees (from Royal Challengers Bangalore) is still the richest cricketer in the world, but when it comes to salary Steve Smith tops the list. To put things into perspective a recent study from espncricinfo also revealed that Smith’s earning is 20 times more than Graeme Cremer (captain of Zimbabwean cricket team) whose earning close to $86000.

India’s test cricketers can be regarded as the most rewarded cricketer in the world, earning at $23,380 per game which is almost twice of what and Australian cricketer earns from a home test. However, Australia has different fees for home and away tests.

HIGHEST PAID AMONG COACHES:-

RAVI SHASTRI is the highest paid among all the coaches in world cricket. He earns $1.17 million a year which is only less than what the top cricketers from Australia, India and England earn. Australian coach Darren Lehmann is second in the list with earnings of $0.55 million (per year), followed by      Trevor Bayliss(coach of England cricket team) who earns $0.52 million.

WORST PAID:-

According to the report of espncricinfo “a player in Pakistan’s top contract earns almost $74,014″ which less than what a player from Ireland in his top contract would earn ($75,000 approx), Ireland’s top cricket retainer also earns more than those of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

However cricket boards from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are currently not in the position to pay their cricketers as much as other cricketing nations, but surprisingly Bangladesh’s head coach is paid more than any of it cricketers. But when it comes to Pakistan, their cricket board is paying Mickey Arthur (Pakistan’s coach) three times more than what their topmost cricketers earn.
