Thor Ragnarok: Expect Massive Opening with $28M Offshore Business


Fans are waiting desperately for the latest film of Thor movie series, Thor: Ragnarok. The producers Disney/Marvel want to cash in this opportunity. The producers have added 18 offshore markets to the release of the film. The international opening day gross is expected to fetch around $28M.  The film will be released simultaneously in 28 markets and some best October openings are expected. In Australia alone, the Chris Hemsworth starrer already picked up $2M including previews.

The story is similar in Brazil with $1.6M and Malaysia with where it is $1M including previews. The figures in New Zealand are also promising with $400K including previews. In Netherlands, the film is only behind Spectre as the second highest October opening with $400K.  The film is like ‘Smashing Hulk’ in all markets topping the list everywhere. Thor 3: Ragnarok is beating the films from same production house like Doctor Strange, Thor 2: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The top five markets for Thor 3: Ragnarok have been UK ($6.7M), Korea ($3.8M), France ($3M), Australia ($2M) and Taiwan ($1.7M). With this said the film is yet hit markets in other European countries and China.

The film is thundering its way in the market-beating the likes of Doctor Strange. The film is being looked upon as the opening door of what to expect from “Avengers: Infinity Wars”. The official numbers are yet to come in but the trend shows massive business for Thor 3. The film is yet to hit screens in the United States and India. The film had its world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on October 10 followed by an Australian premiere on October 13. The film music is also hit among fans, especially the “Immigrant Song” by Led Zepplin which is being used in the film. The cast of Thor 3 packs a punch with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins playing pivotal roles.
