Overwatch league centred in the Burbank, California for two big seasons, and now the decision has been made to let the participating teams play from their home cities. Overwatch League players will move to their respective towns to play online tournaments. The decision of de-centralisation of the Overwatch League system is very comforting for the players, as the gamers across the globe are staying away from their families around Burbank, California. To comfort the players with gruelling practice schedule in foreign countries, the decision of moving to native cities is taken, says Overwatch League Commissioner Nate Nanzer.

According to the Nate Nanzer, who is Overwatch League commissioner, all of the teams will return to their native cities for next season of Overwatch League. From next time, all of the matches will be played in one of the 19 cities, because two teams share one single city, that is Los Angeles. Half of the scheduled games for the teams will be played from their native, and half of the games planned for the teams will be played abroad. Reducing the stress of living away and travelling is appreciated by most of the pro players.

Nate Nanzer announced that the games that the teams will play would be arranged strategically. The teams will play more games with geographically close opponents, to avoid the latency issues and if possible, the transportation problems. It’d be challenging for Overwatch League to manage the decentralisation process from next year. From handling the transportation of players, equipment to the satellite cities from all over the world would be a challenging task. As the players are living in the locations in China, Europe, Australia, South American and many more countries, it’ll be important to see how the league format changes to adapt to the player locations.
