iPad Air 5 Studio Display is supported by an extensive range of Mac computers, starting with the 2016 MacBook Pro and the USB-C-enabled iPads. However, it is not compatible with the earlier-generation iPad Air, and the most recent iPad mini both have USB-C ports.

The Fourth-generation iPad mini 6 and iPad Air are equipped with USB-C ports, but they only support USB 3.1 Gen 1, 5Gbps connectivity. New iPad Air supports USB 3.1 Gen 2, 10Gbps connection, provides enough bandwidth to run its Studio Display at full 5K60 resolution.

Studio Display is compatible with the Thunderbolt-capable 5th-generation iPad Pro or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 device, such as the fourth or third-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro. All three generations of 11-inch models have minimum USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps); therefore, all of them should perform well for display output.

Another thing to note is that the built-in camera of the Studio Display requires a Mac connection to work. Firmware updates and also requires a connection to a compatible Mac.

5G support, but not the mmWave: – There was speculation that iPad Air 5 would come with 5G support throughout the years in the past. Unfortunately, just like the iPad mini 6. Not either iPad model has mmWave band support. It means that they cannot benefit from the 5G technology available in the market with download speeds up to 1GB/s.

Camera enhancements: – Apple also brought improvements to the front-facing camera of the iPad Air 5. It comes with the 12MP Ultra Wide lens along with the center Stage feature. The primary sensor is identical with no changes.

Slightly heavier: – The iPad Air still has the identical size of its predecessor. The iPad Air 5 is different from the M1 iPad Pro, slightly larger than the previous model. On the other hand, iPad Air 5 is slightly heavier, with 462g against 460 on the Cellular version and 461g against 458g on the Wi-Fi model.
