Electric vehicle major Tesla has announced that Model S Plaid Plus has been canceled. The company had earlier said that it will hold an event for the first deliveries of the car. It, however, has officially canceled the Model S Plaid Plus. The new electric car will not hit the roads. Tesla has been teasing the vehicle since 2019. Tesla founder Elon Musk recently announced that the delivery of the vehicle will be delayed. He had said that the company needs more time for tuning. Announcing the decision, Musk said that Plaid Plus is canceled. He added is that the original Plaid is good. He claimed that Plaid is capable of going from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2 seconds.
Also, the Model S Plaid Plus is not appearing on the company’s website. Tesla had in January launched a new version of Model S and Model X. Both are the two flagship electric vehicles of Tesla. The company introduced a new powertrain, redesigned the interior and exterior. The company promised to start deliveries of the new models soon. It was expected the deliveries could begin in February. Tesla, however, failed to deliver vehicles in February and the date was pushed. Tesla had set June 10 as the deadline to start the deliveries of Model S Plaid Plus. The vehicle was expected to cost USD 149,990 to USD 10,000. The Plus would have come with 1,100 horsepower. It can touch the speed of 0 to 60 in 2 seconds.
In May, reports emerged that Tesla has halted the Model S Plaid Plus order. And the vehicle grayed out on the company’s website. It is Tesla’s highest-end model. Musk had attributed the delay in the launch of the now-canceled vehicle to a new battery pack and updates. He said that the company wants more tweaks in the vehicle so that it is safe. According to Musk’s claim, the redesigned vehicle would have been the fastest car. Tesla first displayed the Plaid Model S in 2019 at Laguna Seca raceway. It had lapped the road course of California in just around 95 seconds. Reports say that Model S Plaid deliveries could begin in August-September while Plaid Model X by February next year.
