Instagram Working To Add Support For Creating Posts From Its Desktop Website, iPad Users Gain Big

Tech

Popular photo-sharing platform Instagram is working on a new update for web users. The product team is adding support to bring the post creator to the desktop version. The new support will allow users to create posts from Instagram’s desktop website. The feature was available to users only on Instagram’s app and the mobile website. Users will be provided an option to enable the feature to create posts from its desktop site. The company has tweaked the interface. It has added a preview option of the content. Users can preview the content before proceeding to publish it. The company has also provided options to allow crop photos and apply filters. Besides, users can add a description as well.

Instagram’s desktop website allows users to access its services. But there is no option available for users to create a post. Users can’t share photos and videos. They also can’t add Stories. The latest support will, however, change this soon. The update will let users create posts from the desktop website. It is likely that posting Stories via the website will take longer. Instagram didn’t disclose when the feature will become available. The feature is a great step, especially for iPad users. While iPad users can install the app ad share posts, the app runs just like an iPhone app. The app doesn’t take advantage of the iPad’s entire screen. The company had last year said that developing an iPad version is not in the company’s plans. But the feature to allow create posts from the desktop website will make using Instagram easier on iPad.

Instagram recently allowed users to add up to four pronouns to their profiles. Users can display publicly or they can limit to their followers. The feature is just another way to let users express themselves on the platform. The feature is, however, available in a few countries only. The news about Instagram bringing new features comes in the backdrop of a controversy over the company’s plan to launch a version for kids. More than 40 US Attorneys General recently signed a petition to Mark Zuckerberg urging him to defer the plan for Instagram for Kids. They have cited risk to the mental health of children and privacy concerns as reasons. Several experts have also expressed concerns over the kids’ version of Instagram.
